Discover Afro Savor

If you’re in the mood to explore bold flavors and try something new, Afro Savor is the place to be. Nestled at 3840 Beaconsfield Ln, Indianapolis, IN, this hidden gem offers an unforgettable dining experience that combines the rich, diverse tastes of African cuisine with a modern twist. Whether you're a longtime fan of African dishes or a first-time taster, Afro Savor promises to take you on a culinary journey that is both authentic and exciting.

The moment you step inside, the vibrant atmosphere of Afro Savor draws you in. The restaurant’s warm and welcoming decor makes you feel right at home, while the smells of simmering spices and grilled meats fill the air. It's clear that every detail, from the decor to the menu, is carefully curated to provide an experience that reflects the heart of African culture. You’ll notice right away that the menu is filled with flavorful dishes from across the African continent, ranging from spicy stews to savory grilled meats, each made with the freshest ingredients.

The standout dishes here are undoubtedly the slow-cooked stews and braised meats, which are bursting with rich, savory flavors. If you're unsure what to try first, you can't go wrong with the Jollof rice, a classic West African dish that’s a perfect blend of rice, tomatoes, and spices. It pairs beautifully with the restaurant’s grilled chicken, which is seasoned to perfection with a mix of spices and herbs that dance on your taste buds. For those who prefer something a bit heartier, the suya - a popular Nigerian street food - is a must-try. The skewers of spicy grilled meat are served with a side of crunchy, tangy onions and a hint of heat that will have you coming back for more.

Afro Savor doesn’t just rely on the classics; it also offers a contemporary take on traditional African dishes. The menu incorporates fresh, locally sourced ingredients, making each dish not only authentic but also reflective of the region's seasonal produce. For example, their plantain chips, a delightful snack, come perfectly crispy and golden brown, providing a nice balance to the richer main dishes. It’s clear that the team behind Afro Savor is committed to delivering a dining experience that honors the roots of African cuisine while adding their own innovative touch.

When it comes to service, Afro Savor stands out for its attentive and friendly staff. The waiters are knowledgeable about the menu and are more than happy to offer recommendations based on your preferences. They make sure that every guest feels special, with the kind of service that adds to the overall experience. Whether you're visiting for a casual meal with friends or a special celebration, the staff at Afro Savor creates an environment where you can relax and enjoy your meal.

The drinks menu is just as impressive, with a selection of beverages that complement the flavors of the food. From Palm wine to Hibiscus tea, there’s a wide range of drinks to choose from that not only quench your thirst but also tie in beautifully with the dishes on offer. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the Coconut cake, which provides the perfect sweet ending to a flavorful meal.

Afro Savor isn't just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of African culture and culinary traditions. The owners and chefs behind the establishment have a deep passion for bringing authentic African flavors to the community of Indianapolis, and that passion is reflected in every dish they serve. The restaurant is quickly becoming a local favorite, drawing praise not just for its food but for the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel like a home away from home.

  • I think they normally only handle larger orders, but I was able to order 6 meat pies (I was just orderingfor me and not an event). They were delicious and a great price (1 and a half filled me up). I lived in Nigeria as a teenager and these reminded me of the meat pies we would get there. They are not very spicy, but they were spiced well. They have carrots, potatoes, onions, and ground beef. Just a heads up, I guess this is primarily a catering business. I was a little thrown off when I went to go pick up my order and just ended up at someone's house and not a restaurant. Still, the food was really yummy and I look forward to getting more pies in the future and to trying their suya (something I also enjoyed in Nigeria).
